Brian Stenum was raised in the mid-west in Iowa but moved to and has lived in New Mexico since the early 1980’s. He studied engineering in college and worked for most of his career in the high-reliability electronics manufacturing industry in positions like production manager, manufacturing engineering, contracts manager, and vice-president of operations.
The opportunity came up in late 2004 for Brian to take an early retirement from the electronics manufactured industry. Brian invested in several rental properties in the Roswell New Mexico area in early to mid 2005, and decided to pursue schooling to obtain his New Mexico Real Estate broker’s license, which he obtained in December of 2005. Brian worked in real estate in the Albuquerque area throughout 2006 until he and his wife moved to the Taos New Mexico area around the end of September of 2006.
Since moving to Taos, Brian has helped numerous sellers and buyers with the real estate needs. Serving all of Taos County and western Colfax County, including not only the immediate Taos area, but also the communities of Angel Fire, Eagle Nest, Red River, Questa, Penasco, and all areas in between.
Brian prefers to work primarily with buyers looking for a home or a plot of land in the area. He has worked with a wide variety of buyers, from low to high end buyers, from off-grid to high-luxury seeking buyers, from buyers looking for small lots to ones looking for large acreages for their animals. He has worked with buyers who decided to purchase the first and only home they looked at, to buyers who looked at over 50 homes and land parcels before deciding what to buy. Brian prides himself on his availability and responsiveness, and he always tries to answer his phone when it rings or to return messages as soon as he receives them. Brian was named as the TCAR REALTOR® of the Year for 2013 and the TCAR REALTOR® of the Year for 2015.
Brian has also served on special Committees for the New Mexico Association of REALTORS® (NMAR) as well as serving on the NMAR Board of Directors. As a REALTOR®, Brian adheres to and abides by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR®) Code of Ethics.
